Runnymede & Weybridge MP Dr Ben Spencer has paid tribute to his predecessor, Sir Geoffrey Pattie, who passed away on 8th October.
Ben said: "Sir Geoffrey was the former MP for Chertsey and Walton from 1974-97. In addition to serving residents for 23 years, Sir Geoffrey served our country as a Minister for both Industry and Defence, and as a captain in the army before his election to Parliament."
Referring also to Ottershaw Independent Councillor Malcolm Cressey, who's death was also announced in October, Ben added: "My thoughts and prayers are with their families and friends at this time."
Sir Geoffrey, who was 88, was elected in the February 1974 General Election and retired at the 1997 election. He was also Vice Chairman of the Conservative Party under Margaret Thatcher and John Major.
