Conservative councillors Tim Oliver and Colin McFarlane and our Runnymede & Weybridge MP Dr Ben Spencer are continuing to reduce the impact of heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) in Weybridge.
Tim initiated a ban on HGVs over 18 tonnes following a petition and local consultation. There is an experimental prohibition in place on roads into and through the town centre.
Comments on the scheme must be submitted to Surrey County Council online or in writing by 1 May.
A decision will then be made on whether to go ahead with a permanent ban. Additionally, Dr Ben has met with Amazon, one
of the main contributors due to their local distribution centre.
He reports: “I am delighted that real progress was made. Amazon reviewed their route settings and made changes, and as a result residents are seeing a reduction in use of inappropriate routes by up to 75%. This should make a real difference in addressing noise and safety concerns.”
