Cllr Charu Sood has provided an update on the work being done to fix a burst sewage pipe in in Churchfield Car Park, Weybridge.
Thames Water is carrying out an "incredibly challenging job" which involves making sure there is nothing running through the pipe before work can start on it. They have installed a temporary pipe around the burst section so they can isolate it.
This process will involves digging at a number of locations and then using concrete to secure the new pipe, which will need time to set.
Cllr Sood, who represents Weybridge St George's Hill, said: "Councillors are being assured that everything possible is being done by Thames Water to speed this process up, including working through the weekend, but we appreciate that the closure of the car park and diversions around Weybridge are causing frustration.
"Some residents have been concerned about where the tankers are depositing wastewater. Thames Water has assured that they are emptying at either Chertsey Sewage Treatment Works or Wellington Way Pumping Station and nothing is being put in local watercourses."
The traffic measures previously outlined will also remain in place:
• Road Closure on Walton Lane from Walton Lane Bridge to the junction with Dorney Grove. This is required to enable tankering from Walton Lane Pumping Station.
• Temporary traffic lights and one lane closure on Wellington Way (around 200m in length). This enables the tankers to access the network at Wellington Way Pumping Station.
