Cllr Tom Gracey, Leader of Runnymede Borough Council, has signed the Armed Forces Covenant, reaffirming the council's commitment towards residents and staff who have served our country in the Armed Forces, and their families.
Cllr Gracey commented: "As a former Royal Wessex Yeoman and London Irish Rifleman (now No. 15 Company, Irish Guards) I was deeply honoured to sign the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of Runnymede Borough Council, renewing the commitments the Council first entered into in November 2013.
"As a local authority, we are committed to ensuring that members of the military and the broader military family are not disadvantaged through their service and are supported in accessing the full range of the Council’s services.
"Runnymede Borough Council, as an employer, is also committed to supporting the Armed Forces community working and residing in Surrey. We are passionate about building an inclusive and diverse workforce, welcoming candidates from a variety of backgrounds, skills and abilities. Runnymede registered under the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme in 2016, earned the Bronze accreditation in 2017 and Silver in 2021. I am proud that in my time as a Councillor we have supported service leavers, Reservists and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers."
