Steve Eldridge has been selected as your Local Conservative candidate for the Addlestone South by-election on Thursday 10th October.
This vacancy at Runnymede Borough Council has been triggered by the sudden death of our dear, and much missed colleague, Cllr Jonathan Wilson, who had represented the ward from 2019 until his passing this August.
Steve is seeking your support to continue Jonathan's work. He grew up in the area, attending Fullbrook School, and now lives in Bois Hall Road with his wife and three children. He leads a church at the Eileen Tozer Centre in Addlestone.
Having previously worked for Runnymede Council doing press and communications, Steve has a clear understanding of how the Council works – the good and the bad – and will be able to cut through the noise and get things done.
Addlestone councillors' recent success in resurfacing Station Road and reopening the Eileen Tozer Centre shows what can be achieved, and there is more to do: Elderly residents and families on lower incomes need the Council’s support, particularly over the winter, and we must deliver on the promise of Addlestone One – filling those empty units. Steve will also champion investment in our parks and scrutiny of our new Council: it is run by Labour with three other parties and four ‘co-leaders’ in charge – a recipe for chaos and disarray.
Steve says: "I am standing under the Conservative banner but I will always put the community above party. I will be knocking on doors with my team in the coming weeks and I very much look forward to meeting you in person and hearing your views about how we can make Addlestone a better place to live, work and raise a family."
You can help Steve's campaign by delivering a few leaflets, speaking to voters, putting up a poster, or helping on polling day. Please email campaign manager Steve Bax if you can assist.
