We'd like to thank everyone who voted Conservative in Runnymede and Weybridge at the local elections on 5 May. Your support is never taken for granted and is always deeply appreciated.
These were always going to be difficult elections in light of global pressures pushing up the cost of living and with the government at mid-term, but despite the challenges we won eight seats and have retained control of Runnymede Borough Council.
This will allow us to continue to deliver for residents by upgrading our town centres, keeping council tax low and services excellent, and tackling climate change and its effects locally.
Thanks to your support we secured 38% of the vote in Runnymede, outperforming Labour and the Liberal Democrats by a wide margin, and remain the largest group on the council, with 24 seats.
In Weybridge, Charu Sood's tireless work on behalf of residents in St George's Hill saw her returned with a 395 majority, and in Oatlands & Burwood Park our talented newcomer Harrison Allman-Varty was elected as Surrey's youngest Conservative councillor.
We are delighted that Dolsie Clarke, Jonathan Wilson and Jonathan Hulley were re-elected in Runnymede and they will be joined by exciting new talents in Max Darby, Vanda Cunningham and Shannon Saise-Marshall.
The Association pays tribute to all of our fantastic candidates, in particular those whose hard work and efforts were not rewarded on this occasion and we are looking forward to them being successful in the future.
Thank you again for your support and we look forward to delivering on your priorities in the months ahead.
